It’s been a bit crazy around here! Several times over the past few days I thought “I need to write the post for May” and here we are in the early evening hours on the FIRST FRIDAY in MAY!
-better late than never-
My most recent book launch – Creepy Crawly (and not so creepy crawly) ABCs of ZION – is all about CREEPY CRAWLIES! *Free Kindle ebook for a limited time*
To celebrate the small creatures of the world, I thought it would be fun to look at how many insects I have drawn since starting Baby Ranger Books. And also show off a few of my favorites!

From time to time, I reused illustrations that I had previously drawn for other books. I enjoy working on illustrations, and love learning all the fun facts possible about these insects as I draw them. I read an entire article about bees while lying on a massage table at the chiropractor, and follow way too many macro photographers who post amazing insect shots! My aunt in Ohio is a beginner beekeeper, that is pretty awesome!
I am still shocked that I have drawn 54 insect/arachnid illustrations. And, I have drawn 44 butterfly/moth illustrations.

Can I really choose favorites?

My favorite insect is the dragonfly. I have always loved them. We had dragonflies on our wedding invitations. And I remember one time my nephew ran up to me so excited because he saw this little helicopter flying in his yard- he was so stoked! It was a dragonfly 🙂 Kids are fun!
Happy MAY! Have a great month- be sure to follow Baby Ranger Books on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
Remember if you have Kindle Unlimited you can download Creepy Crawlies for free (for a limited time) and enjoy MORE CREEPY CRAWLIES! If you do… please leave a review, it goes a long way! THANKS!
