This park is so vast, so rocky, and so full of history. To sum it up in cheesy fashion… it is GRAND. – end of post- enjoy the books, they launch September 1st. 😆
Seriously though, there is so much diversity at the Grand Canyon. Yes it is rocky. Yes there is a rushing river; yes there is desert, and waterfalls, cactus and aquatic plants. There are also HUGE Condors and tiny hummingbirds, ancient historical artifacts, and intense geological layers. Taking all of this diversity and fitting it into three engaging children’s books has been a fun challenge.

A wide variety of reptiles and amphibians live at the Grand Canyon… I drew 10 different snakes for these books. Too many nights were spent looking at pictures of snakes and drawing them. >not a fan of snakes< This park is also the most diversified area for bats, lots of bats were drawn for this book, some of them are pretty creepy looking, but so fascinating at the same time.

Thankfully there are cute birds, beautiful butterflies and numerous wildflowers that counter balance drawing so many snakes!!

And last sneak peak into the books…Baby Ranger got a new backpack and floppy hat for the Rim to Rim adventure through the Grand Canyon. Baby Ranger is the cutest little adventure buddy.
Lots happening on my end between now and the book launch…I am finishing edits to ABC’s and 123’s, and still tweaking illustrations for the third book. Some of these edits might be done on my plane rides and airport layovers as I travel later this week. I am setting off to run my first mountain marathon! PIKES PEAK I am coming for you!!
I’M GOING ON AN ADVENTURE! But that won’t stop this Grand Canyon adventure from launching on September 1st! SEE YOU THEN MY FRIENDS! And as always… additional sneak peeks are posted on instagram @babyrangerbooks .
