The children’s book market is HUGE! Can one even count how many ABC books there are? Or how many 123 books there are? LOTS! Kids can count ANYTHING and EVERYTHING… they can learn the alphabet from a zoo, the ocean, or even from SPACE! Thinking about this can be overwhelming. Why am I adding to a market that is already so saturated?
NATIONAL PARKS! Creating these one-of-a-kind books that teach the ABC’s, 123’s (and more!), utilizing nature found within National Parks is different from what is currently on the market. Each day, thousands of people step foot into National Parks and enjoy their beauty. Many parents visit with their young children, grandparents take their grandchildren; each hoping, in one way or another, they can instill the love of nature, travel, and the parks into their young kiddos.
As I look through my own photos from hikes, and National Park adventures, I realize that I really enjoy the tiny things in nature. Through my deep research of parks for Baby Ranger Books… it is all the more exciting when I see that tiny little salamander, or notice a specific flower or butterfly that I have researched and drawn for one of my books!
If this creates excitement for me, I can only imagine how exciting it would be for a child to see an animal from their Baby Ranger book, or to notice the shape of a leaf, a pine cone, or the color of a wildflower… This is my WHY.
And I hope that as kiddos point thing out, it will also encourage the parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and caregivers to slow down, and take time to notice these smaller details as they visit the National Parks. Nature is amazing!
With three book sets (Great Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon) and one special edition book (Redwoods), Baby Ranger is just getting started… and I am dreaming BIG! Exciting things are coming!
